I’ve decided that I want to do more things that make me happy. Sounds simple, right? And sounds like (and is!) something I should have already been doing. There’s no time like the present to start, right?
Recently, I have been thinking about things I wanted to do before I try to become pregnant and my life is forever changed by a beautiful child. I only had one item, and it was kind of weird. This morning, I started writing.
It’s not just a list of things I want to do pre-pregnancy anymore. It’s a list of things I want to do in my lifetime: a bucket list. I’ve never written one down before. It is handwritten and fills the front and back of a sheet of paper.
That’s a lot, I know. But so many things are easily doable! I started categorizing my list, as I do. I re-wrote the items that I can do or start doing easily right now. And then I did research.
I want to go to more sporting events. There’s a college basketball game on my grandma’s birthday. She LOVES basketball. It’s a women’s event, so it’s only $8 per person.
I want to participate in more charity walk/runs. I bookmarked a bunch, and downloaded the Couch to 5K app to begin using tomorrow.
I want to garden more. There’s a class offered at our local Career Center (affiliated with the public schools).
I want to re-learn to crochet and make a scarf and hat. The Career Center offers a class in that, too.
I want to see a roller derby bout. I’m going later this month with a friend.
I have always wanted to participate in a clean-up the city event. I’m registered for April’s event.
I want to be comfortable cooking at least 10 dishes and 3 desserts. I cooked twice today!
I want to get really good at driving stick shift. I drove my manual car this morning.
I want to attend an open mic (I’ll participate in one later!) and found one for later this month.
I want to learn new games and find more that I enjoy. I’m playing games tonight with friends.
I want to see more live music. I have a ticket for a concert later this month. (see previous post!)
The only thing standing in my way is funds, because so many items on my list (including so many not listed) cost money. Even if it’s a small amount, like the $8 basketball game or $19 gardening class, we simply don’t have the money to spare for stuff like this. But it’s important to me that I do things that make me happy, starting right now. It’s time to enjoy life! If I have to work more to do it, I will! Extra babysitting that leads to a roller derby bout? Worth it.
I’m really excited for this. I might post the whole list later, once I have it in categories.
What’s on your bucket list?
